Pro šešėlius/ Contemporaneity Shadows – residency, publication, and performances
Pro šešėlius is an artist residency conceived on the occasion of the France-Lithuania cultural year. This project, led by Non-étoile, invites Lithuanian and French artists to take as a starting point the invisibilization of Simone de Beauvoir during her stay in Lithuania in 1965, to explore the blind spots in our respective contemporary societies.
For two weeks, this residency will bring together moments of exchange, research, creation, and co-education for the eight participating artists. They will be invited to share their research through a publication and a vinyl record (published by Distance Press) and during various events in Paris and Vilnius.
You are warmly invited to attend the performed presentation, which will take place at the Nonono space on September 18. The works will remain on display from September 18 to 22, 2024, and will also be presented at ArtVilnius from October 4 to 7.
Featuring the participation of artists Lukas Danys, Aiste Marija Stankevičiūtė, Kamilė Krasauskaitė, Arslane Smirnov, Faustine Duval, and Amentia Suard Brauchard. Coordination by Yves Bartlett and Daura Polonskytė.
A residency co-organized with In the Closet, with the support of the France-Lithuania Season, Galerie Nivet-Carzon, the French Institute in Vilnius, and Distance Press.
